NDA Preparation
Sainik School Chittorgarh, dedicated to preparing cadets for the National Defence Academy (NDA) and grooming them to become exemplary officers in the Indian Armed Forces, has made remarkable strides during the academic year 2023-24. This report highlights the school’s initiatives and achievements in this regard.
NDA Examination:
On 3rd September 2023, 47 cadets from Sainik School Chittorgarh appeared for the UPSC (NDA) examination. Of these, 16 cadets successfully cleared the exam, a testament to their dedication and the school’s effective preparation methods. The institution takes immense pride in this achievement.
Preparation Activities:
To ensure cadets are thoroughly prepared for the NDA examination, the school implemented various initiatives. Evening classes were conducted by faculty members, focusing on critical subjects and providing personalized guidance. The library played a pivotal role by offering study materials, particularly in current affairs, to broaden the cadets’ knowledge base.
Mock Tests and Interactions:
Weekly mock tests were held every Sunday to simulate the NDA examination environment, allowing cadets to assess their progress and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, the cadets benefited from interactions with distinguished officers and alumni, who served as sources of inspiration and motivation.
SSB Preparation:
Following their success in the NDA examination, the cadets began preparing for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview. The Principal and Vice Principal took an active role by conducting preparatory classes and providing targeted guidance. Regular Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) practice and loud newspaper reading sessions, organized by the English Department, were instrumental in enhancing communication skills.
SSB Expert Guidance:
The school was privileged to have the support of two accomplished ex-Chittorians, Commodore Yashwant Kumawat (Ex IO, President Naval Service Selection Board, Bhopal) and Col Pramod Badsara (Ex GTO), who led specialized SSB training. Their expertise significantly enhanced the cadets’ preparation, with multiple sessions focused on group discussions, lecturettes, and specific tasks conducted by the Principal to refine their skills.
The Vice Principal further contributed by overseeing regular practice sessions for Word Association Test (WAT), Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT), and Situation Reaction Test (SRT) using library resources.
